"I would never have thought that I would be so enthusiastic about IT security when I decided to do an integrated degree program in business informatics after graduating from high school, and only because the course content sounded interesting."

In 2016, I started my integrated degree program in business informatics at a local IT service provider. At the beginning, my main tasks were classic system integration, installation, setup and delivery of systems to customers, repair of defective hardware and basic customer support. In the second year of my studies, I switched internally to technical sales and consulting and discovered my enthusiasm for IT security.

By the end of my studies and the following year, I began to focus more and more on IT security. I was particularly interested in topics relating to awareness and employee sensitization. I also became more and more enthusiastic about creating security concepts and carrying out security checks and preparing audits, as well as everything to do with the GDPR, which was still a relatively new topic at the time.

In order to further deepen the knowledge I had acquired in these areas, I began researching part-time Master's degree courses in IT security in 2020 and started my Master's degree in IT security and forensics as a distance learning course at Wismar University of Applied Sciences in September 2020.

About halfway through my studies, I decided to look for a new employer where I could better put my newly acquired knowledge into practice and applied to Orange Cyberdefense in fall 2021. I started here in December as a Security Consultant in the Strategic Consulting department. In my new role, I am responsible for topics relating to awareness, sensitizing employees and reviewing and creating security concepts.

In the fall of 2022, I was asked whether I would be interested in an internal transfer to the Analyst Services department. Since then, in addition to my work as a Strategy Consultant, I have been supporting my colleagues there in analyzing and processing security incidents in the infrastructure of one of our customers. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with more experienced colleagues, I quickly became part of this team.

Thanks to the many different areas I come into contact with in my work on a wide variety of projects, I have learned an incredible amount since joining Orange Cyberdefense and new, interesting topics are constantly opening up.
